Women's Committee for Hospice Care, Inc. Supports "Bells for Hospice"
Recognizing National And Michigan Hospice Month, WCHC Joins Campaign to Seek Community Awareness
September 22, 2008, Bloomfield Hills, Mich. - At noon on November 1, 2008, as you hear the beautiful sound of church bells ringing across the State in honor of Hospice Day, please join the Women's Committee for Hospice Care, Inc. ("WCHC") in pausing for a moment to give thanks for the comfort and support that hospice service providers offer in our final days of need.
In an effort to raise support for national and Michigan hospice month, communities statewide are joining together for the third year to ring church bells in honor of patients who have died in the last year under hospice care, in respect for their families, and to spread the message of the value of hospice through the "Bells of Hospice" campaign.
Women's Committee For Hospice Care, Inc. (WCHC) is joining this appeal by encouraging and informing individuals and community-based and faith-based organizations in their service area about this important and heart-felt initiative.
"Hospice Day provides an opportunity to reflect upon the important service hospice provides to our family members and loved ones as they reach the end of their life. I can think of nothing more beautiful than church bells ringing in honor of the hospice workers and the lives they touch throughout the year," said WCHC President Julie Beals.
Hospice organizations are committed to improving end of life care and expanding access to hospice care with the goal of profoundly enhancing the quality of life for patients and for their loved ones. Hospice care is compassionate care that involves a team-oriented approach of expert medical care, pain management, and emotional and spiritual support tailored to the patient's wishes. Emotional and spiritual support is also extended to the family and loved ones.
Please support us on November 1 by helping to spread the word of the "Bells For Hospice" campaign. The campaign is organized by Michigan Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (MHPCO).
