Spring's Bounty Provides
WCHC Raises Needed Funds for Hospice Care at Annual Spring Luncheon and Boutique
Brilliant blue skies, delicious food, unlimited shopping and the largest raffle in Women's Committee for Hospice Care history all contributed to a lovely and successful spring afternoon at Orchard Lake Country Club.
Co-chair Candace Ordonez encouraged everyone to "shop, shop, shop" and shop they did! By visiting the 30 unique vendors from Michigan and surrounding states, the 360 guests raised $53,000 to benefit area hospices. WCHC introduced a special fundraising project, "A Garden of Wishes" with plaques and sculptures from Caruth Studios. In addition, the sunny yellow and blue table centerpieces, in a variety of blue and white vases were in high demand, and sold well at both luncheon seating's. The expansive raffle raised over $6000 and offered a variety of items from getaways to trinkets and spa packages. Honoree Nancy Hopp was presented a Tiffany vase in appreciated for her committed years of service to WCHC. Humor ensued when co-chair Pat Short had to leave early and her Co-chair Candace Ordonez carried around a blow-up of her head on a stick, so Pat would still be there "in spirit".
"A glorious afternoon was had by all. I wish to thank the entire committee for their hard work. It truly was a wonderful and successful event. The membership supported this luncheon with great enthusiasm. It would have not been a success without our members and their generosity." Stated Julie Beals, President of WCHC.
